LA River Veterans Tribute Park

Los Angeles, California

This park master plan in the Sepulveda Basin, through a series of community design workshops, developed a consensus among regional and local park advocates to devote this new park land in the Sepulveda Basin to experiences that inform park users about the services of U.S. Veterans and to create new habitat for native California animals.  This project addresses water quality and features multi-use trails, a river overlook to celebrate this spot in the LA River where the armored channel ends and natural meandering occurs for a few miles, display of artifacts from the armed services, a pond, an acre of habitat patches for small mammals and bird life, restroom, informal picnic areas, and three managed access-points.
