Los Angeles Urban Forestry Master Plan

Los Angeles, California

Since 2006 the City of Los Angeles achieved variable results in several efforts launched to grow a better tree canopy on private lands and streets.  Our work in this project included evaluating the staff detailed to tree work of all kinds over five years, analysis of the protected tree ordinances as implemented in four cities compared to Los Angeles, and interviews of numerous tree workers. Our recommendations will support proposals for the City of Los Angeles to make efficiency improvements to achieve better tree canopy needed to be more resilient to climate change in Los Angeles.
