Deforest Park Wetlands Center

Adjacent to the Los Angeles River and surrounded by major regional transportation routes, the DeForest Wetlands Environmental Education Center is designed to educate visitors about natural systems, support volunteering, and support maintenance operations for the Conservation Corp of Long Beach. The City of Long Beach’s DeForest Park and Wetlands is 34 acres featuring trails and habitat-rich vegetation in a flood detention basin.

To improve the accessibility of DeForest Wetlands Park along the LA River, this new 3,000 SF indoor-outdoor facility provides shaded education space, restrooms, storage and electric car parking. Our team designed and engineered the $1 million facility to demonstrate stormwater capture and work with the park to improve the feeling of security among visitors. Conservation Corps of Long Beach staff will muster their crews at the site and help maintain the wetlands.
