Sheridan Elementary School - Reading Garden

This garden provides an oasis for thirty students to visit at a time for quiet reading in this 1,000-student elementary school.  The garden space is broken into three areas, and the features include a dancing water feature, plantings that draw birds, abundant shade trees, and decomposed granite paving.  The planting and irrigation design anticipates the needs of community volunteers who will provide most of the planting maintenance by emphasizing tough plants and by leaving space for neighbors to make new plantings.
